Winning Schools Attend The SONY SchoolsRadio.Com Awards

The second Sony Schoolsradio.com awards took place on 23rd February 2010 at the Sony UK Limited headquarters in Weybridge, Surrey.
The awards were attended by students from the winning schools in two award categories; Music Entertainment Category and Feature/Documentary Category.
SchoolsRadio.com was launched in December 2007 by the Secrertaries of State for Children, Schools and Families and Culture, Media and Sport. The project was designed to encourage school children from across the United Kingdom to get involved in the making of audio material. The venture was initiated by the Vision Charity founded by Sony alongside other companies 35 years ago. Vision Charity wanted to encourage an activity in which blind, visually impaired and dyslexic students could participate and not be at a disadvantage to their peers. The venture is now officially endorsed by the DCSF and three hundred schools are registered to participate in SchoolsRadio.com.
Sony UK Limited became involved in the project through the long standing sponsorship of the Sony Radio Awards and Sony’s Managing Director Steve Dowdle was on hand to present the winning students with their award.
The winner of the Music Entertainment Category was Ruari Bush from The Roseland School, Truro, Cornwall and the winner of the Feature/Documentary Category was a group of students from the ISCA College for Media Arts in Exeter, Hattie Drinkald, Rachel Hunter, Joe Kidd, Daniel Heath, Hazel Gibbens, Connor Beswick and Josh Tucker.

The awards were judged by Industry professionals and the winners were selected as they showed real talent and provided entertainment listening.
