New College, Worcester, has long been the centre of excellence for education of blind and visually impaired young people from all over the United Kingdom and has been a recipient of help from Vision Charity for more than 20 years.

Previously, we have supported them with donations of computers, mini-buses and smaller vehicles made possible with your generous support for the many activities we organise.
Until 3 years ago the College was a major part of the RNIB educational system, then in 2007 it became an independent college, continuing its provision for the blind and partially sighted students.
This year we were able to respond positively to a request for a Ford Galaxy people carrier, to replace an aged and well worn smaller vehicle (thanks to competitive help from local Ford dealer P.J. Nicholls Ltd) together with a suitable trailer for carrying all the ‘kit’ necessary for the various outdoor activities undertaken by the students.

A sunny and warm day in the College grounds in early July saw the formal handover of the vehicle shown below. Senior Mathew Clark helped to accept the equipe, on his very first day as Head Boy, accompanied by Principal, Mardy Smith and Fundraising chief, Anne Priestley.
New College Principal Mardy Smith said “The new MPV Ford Galaxy and the trailer The Vision Charity have now donated to New College Worcester has already made a huge difference and is greatly assisting our blind and partially sighted children and young people with outdoor trips and activities.
We are extremely grateful to Vision Charity and their supporters for the generous thought and support which lies behind this donation”.

Amongst those present were Principal, Mardy Smith, Fundraising Manager, Anne Priestley and Head Boy, Mathew Clark. From Vision Charity Larry Davis, Executive Director and Peter Thompson, President.
