Vision and Blind in Business "transform Anna's life"

Recently, Vision Charity has funded the purchase of a range of computer equipment and specialised software(including JAWS and SUPERNOVA) for a remarkable 8 year old girl, Anna, for doing her homework away from school.

Anna was identified by Blind in Business which is a charity helping students prepare themselves for employment by training them on current PC technology adapted for use by the visually impaired. They also help in placing students with employers, thereby providing an essential service to both the students and the potential employers.

They are now extending their services to help younger visually impaired children, who need technology to enable them to compete in the classroom.

Blind in Business responded to the needs of 8 year old Anna because she is an intelligent, blind, who was struggling in education. “We felt that for Anna to progress, as quickly as her sighted peers, she needed speech software and a laptop. Before, Anna would spend hours reading Braille and attempting to access the internet. Now it takes no-time at all." Blind in Business discussed Anna's needs, with her Mother Laura, to define the right equipment for school and at home. Now Anna believes she can progress at speed, with the technology that's right for her.

Anna's mother commented, "this is a wonderful and valuable service by Blind in Business, who have been so very helpful with advice and training, this laptop will enable Anna to keep up with her peers at school and also make her feel very much on a par with her chums in the classroom. It will truly transform her life"
